How many people under the age of 21 die each year as a result of under age drinking?  According to the 2005 YRBS 5,000 people under the age of 21 die as a result of under age drinking. 
  • The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration states that alcohol is the #1 drug of choice for children and adolescents, and its use is increasing. 
  • Each day, more than 7,000 kids in the United States under the age of 16 take their first drink.
  • 40% of those who drink before the age of 15 develop alcohol abuse or dependence later in life.
